I just set up myth. I must say its very much cool. You guys have done a awesome job. Hail Knoppmyth!!!!! I just have a small problem. The live tv is not covering the entire television screen. Also, I see a BLUE line on the left side and on the top when I play live tv. What and where do I have to change what configuration to utilize the entire TV screne. I have got a Sony's KV32FS120 32" FD Trinitron® WEGA® TV http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servle ... tId=173029 My aspect ration is set to 4/3 I think that the live tv video is shifted to a little right and a little bottom. |

Well since you didn't say what kind of hardware you have iot's hard to tell you how to fix your overscan problem. With an Nvidia card using the nvidia-settings utility is your best bet. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=NvidiaSetup As for the blue borders: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlueBorders |

Thank you for a heads up I have got a nvidia 5200. A hauppauge pvr 150...(actually I bought a hauppauge pvr 250 off ebay.. that’s what it said there... but when I was configuring remote while installation of myth frontend I had to select option d which said "d. PVR-150 w/ transmitter and receiver" coz when I choose "b. Grey remote" my remote was not fully mapped... any idea which PVR I have got???) Can you give me more resource to try now that I have reveled more details? Thanks … Have a great day! |

Seems like I made apretty good guess the first time. Add these two lines to the beginning off your /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps file like the wiki page says. Code: [startup] {xvattr -a XV_COLORKEY -v 0}
[startup] {nvidia-settings --load-config-only} Restart the frontend, fire up nvidia-settings (as per the wiki) and tweak your overscan. |

The GUI is AWESOME! ![]() tjc, thank you for all you patience. I very much appreciate all the help! nvidia-settings --display=:0 was nice! I got the gui up and adjusted the settings... but have a few glitches. - when I restart the box and launch mythtv, it goes back to the original settings "nvidia-settings --load-config-only" is not really working ![]() - The Overscan settings is zooming the video not shifting it... is this the only setting we can apply? Thanks again! Have a good one! ![]() |

Are you running nvidia-settings at the mythtv user? Look for the .nvidia-settings-rc file Code: root@black2:~# ls -al /home/mythtv/.nvidia-settings-rc
-rw-r--r-- 1 mythtv mythtv 1187 Jan 6 11:54 /home/mythtv/.nvidia-settings-rc |

Hello tjc, I will try the code soon. (Don’t have access to my box right now) But before that have a quick question... The picture quality of the live TV is a little depreciated as compared to what my settop box when connected directly to TV is giving. Any tweaking I could possibly do? Is it in the capture setting? In the recording settings of the following * Default * Live TV * Low Quality * High Quality I have all of these 4 options setup the highest resolution of I think 720x480. Also, I don’t think the overscan is carping up the resolution, as when I was setting the overscan and reduced it the resolution wasn’t any better. I think it’s the capture card which I have to get into. What do you say? Thanks again for being around! Cando! |

Remember picture quality relates to bit rate as well as resolution, so you need to set an adequate (higher) bit rate for the higher resolution. Bruce S. |

Hello tjc, I just checked Code: root@black2:~# ls -al /home/mythtv/.nvidia-settings-rc -rw-r--r-- 1 mythtv mythtv 1187 Jan 6 11:54 /home/mythtv/.nvidia-settings-rc it looks the same. also I have pasted the below stated code in /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps Code: [startup] {xvattr -a XV_COLORKEY -v 0}
[startup] {nvidia-settings --load-config-only} but when I restart my myth box it dosent switches to nvidia settings. Any thing that I am doing wrong? And also how to change user settings in Linux and how to see the user list? I am thinking of giving all user admin rights and check if that makes any difference. Thanks a lot! |

It's not supposed to pop up the application, it's just supposed to apply the settings in the file. Try this to see if they're what you think thaye should be: Code: grep TVOverScan /home/mythtv/.nvidia-settings-rc cando wrote: And also how to change user settings in Linux and how to see the user list? Don't. That would be a bad idea and wouldn't help. |
