Post subject: | Can only Rip DVD'S to ISO or Perfect |
Hello - I would like to put my DVD's On my Knoppmyth install - I am using version R5E50 - TV etc seemed to work great, This is a backend /frontend install. When i try to import a DVD i get the message saying you can hit any numeric number to start a job then when i try to rip on - Good/med/excellent the ripping and transcoding will run but it seems like the transcoding fails 3/4 of the way through! The only options that work with no errors are ISO or Perfect - But i don't think i am transcoding with those two options, Plus ISO or Perfect are huge files, I would like to transcode the movies smaller, XVID is checked in the settings. What am i missing i have searched the forums and found some transcoding issues but they all seemed to be related to TV only. Thanks AJ My system Case - Enermax / 420 Watt PWS Motherboard - Asus A7N8X-Deluxe Processor - AMD Athlon 3200 Ram - 1.5 gb 3200 ram HD - 300 SATA TV TUNER - PVR -150 Giga Lan |

This is a know issue with that (older) version. Your best bet is to upgrade. |

Ok answered my own question here, Upgraded to R5F1 and transcoding appears to work, also noticed the IMDB info is coming in correctly - Well not the auto search but manual enter. Thanks Again AJ ![]() |

Thanks Again AJ ![]() I thought i answered my own question - back to the same problems I had before the R5f1 update, MY dvd's play fine but will not transcode on GOOD setting, After a reboot it gives the infamous MTD not started hit any number key to start i then will see the DVD but when i pick GOOD quality it just keeps looping back to the nothing else to process window, Do you think there is a problem with my MTD on startup? Thanks AJ |

It almost sounds lke you don't have the decryption library installed, but then you wouldn't be able to rip perfect quality. When you reinstalled, did you install this library? It doesn't come with Knoppmyth and decryption of any commercial DVD will fail if it's not there. Mike |

You would definitely remember if you installed it, since you have to enable the multimedia repos, do an apt-get update then apt-get install it. If you just upgraded KM and don't remember installing the lib, then you didn't install it. Easy to check if it's installed. dpkg -L |grep <pkg-name> Mike |
