I don't know what happened, but when I go to watch DVDs the picture is perfect, but the sound is just a loud crackling. Nothing discernible, but not like static either...

I had thought it was an issue with the sound card, so I removed it and went back to the on board sound which used to work, at least I think it did with this installation...it's been a while since I tried to play a DVD.

I also tried ripping one, copying it to the videos directory and playing it, and it was the same problem. Actually, it does it with movies I ripped a long time ago and KNOW worked at the time. So, it's got to be something with the playback of VOB files.

It can't be the hardware, as the rips were done long ago and I know worked.

It's using the Internal player, and all the other sound works, Music, Videos, TV, Recordings...

...this is perplexing.

Thanks for any insight you all can provide :)

I just tried Xine, and they play fine, though I would rather get the Internal player working.

Could the internal player be playing the wrong audio track? Try hitting the + key which cycles through tracks.

Then open a bug report (check to see if one exist first) on http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/wiki .
