I was looking through my logs for something else and thought I saw too many instances of mythfilldatabase running. Grep confirms this:

Code:
root@mbe:/var/log/mythtv# cat mythbackend.log.1 | grep mythfilldatabase | more
2008-05-06 06:55:45.457 Running mythfilldatabase
2008-05-06 09:57:46.587 Running mythfilldatabase
2008-05-06 12:59:42.665 Running mythfilldatabase
2008-05-06 16:02:07.759 Running mythfilldatabase
2008-05-06 19:04:31.158 Running mythfilldatabase
2008-05-06 22:06:55.239 Running mythfilldatabase
2008-05-07 01:09:17.393 Running mythfilldatabase
2008-05-07 04:11:54.515 Running mythfilldatabase

What would cause this? This is a relatively new install and I left the mythfilldatabase settings alone in mythtv-setup, figuring it would run every 24 hours.

Here are what I think are the pertinent variables listed via fix_settings.sh

Code:
root@mbe:/var/log/mythtv# fix_settings.sh -d | grep MythFill
MythFillDatabaseLog      NULL
MythFillGrabberSuggestsTime   1   NULL
MythFillMaxHour   5   NULL
MythFillMinHour   2   NULL
MythFillPeriod   1   NULL
MythFillDatabaseArgs   --quiet   mbe
MythFillDatabasePath   /usr/bin/nice -n 19 /usr/bin/mythfilldatabase   mbe
MythFillEnabled   1   mbe
MythFillFixProgramIDsHasRunOnce   1   mbe

Thanks.

Do you note any failures in it running?

No, no failure was logged:

Code:

I'd have that in the log every three hours.

I've worked around it by turning off the option in Setup->General to have the grabber suggest the next run time. It stopped running every three hours, ran one time early this morning, and now in Backend Status it reports "success" instead of the "potential grabber failure" message.
