Post subject:  SOLVED: PVR-150 can't tune to any channels; R5.5

I just put R5.5 on a new (to me) machine. Everything is installed, but when I go to Watch TV, the frontend quits, and just leaves me at the fluxbox desktop. Also, I have a frontend running on my MacBook - when I got to Watch TV on there, I can change channels, but all I get is fuzz and sometimes garbled sound.

I've followed the troubleshooting steps on the Wiki - changing the frequency set from us-cable to us-cable-hrc, etc. I've deleted and re-created the video source and input connection. The physical cable connection is fine. The card worked fine in my old machine. I don't really know what to do. Here's some output from dmesg that I hope helps:

Code:
gjm@mythtv:~$ dmesg | grep "tuner model is TCL M2523_.*_E"

Post subject:  No longer a tuner issue, must be video driver trouble

Update: Some troubleshooting step I took fixed the tuner issue, as I can now watch Live TV (and recordings) from my MacBook frontend. However, the combined backend/frontend is still quitting and leaving me at the desktop whenever I go to watch TV.

I'm guessing this means it is a video driver configuration issue or something, rather than a tuner issue.

This machine has an AGP nVidia Riva TNT2 (NV4), and I've tried both the nv and nvidia drivers without luck. I will try some more troubleshooting tomorrow, but in the meantime, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not sure a riva is up to the job... I put mine in a dark back corner and adopted FX-5200 cards for video...
