I'd gone through a bunch of programs and manually edited the commercial cutlist, then set them to losslessly transcode MPEG->MPEG to remove them permanently.

Woke up the next morning to watch TV and MythTV said "no recordings found." Logged on to the backend via SSH: df said that the root partition was 100% full.

Checked MythWeb (which was still working) and the job queue showed that one job was stuck in "processing" at some percentage complete.

I stopped mythbackend, deleted /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log (which was huge), checked top and then killed the mythtranscode process. Doing both of these brought root back down to normal.

I now have to monitor transcoding (via MythWeb) to see if it gets stuck. When it does, mythbackend.log gets filled with the following:

First I get:

Code:
2008-08-05 17:56:42.713 Need to insert 19231 frames > max allowed: 20.  Assuming bad PTS

I get about 1400 of these in my log over about 3 seconds. Then I start getting:

Code:
2008-08-05 17:56:42.717 No more queue slots!

If I don't kill the mythtranscode process, I will get that line every thousandth of a second or so in my log until the root partition is full.

I've Googled both errors, have found others that have had the problem but no obvious solutions.

Just wanted to post this in case anyone else sees or has seen this behavior and comes up with a good solution. Thanks.

I know this is an old post, but it precisely describes the problem I am having with on recording. Tonight I am going to check the cut points of the video. Just wonder if anyone has another solution?

I would try running mythtranscode manually, and see if it errors.

Actually, with DVB there are a billion problems (approximately) with transcoding, but mythtranscode on the command line is where I usually start.

Something like:
mythtranscode -l -m -c 1002 -s 20090918121100 -o /myth/video/title.mpg

Should give you a bit of feedback. All the logging will be done to stdout (the screen) so your log file won't fill up (well, it still can but not likely).

Mike

Thanks, I'll give that a try. When doing it through the interface, it gets about 90% through and just stalls, filling up the log in the process.

I get several "Corruption likely at pos:" errors, and then a steady stream of "No more queue slots".

It's a fairly small video to start with, so maybe I won't bother with the transcode.

That would suggest the file isn't all that clean. Did you have reception problems during the recording? It looks like there are really a few problems with the recording.
