Hi, I've recently moved up to R5.5. Install was easy with my Chaintec 7NIF2 and all has been working great for about 2 months. Recently the backend has been dying after a few days. I can restart it and it runs for a random amount of time before dying again. I've checked the logs in /var/log/mythtv but there's nothing obvious. I've looked around the forum but can't find anything that gives me any clues. Can you tell me what I should be looking at to try to find the problem? Thanks |

Doesn't mean it isn't there. There has to be something in the backend log that tells you when it was started. Post it in your reply. Just 10 or so lines either side of it. Mike |

I have various logs in /var/log/mythtv called mythtvbackend.log mythtvbackend.log.1 mythtvbackend.log.2 ... mythtvbackend.log.7 But these really don't seem to be logging anything of use and when I re-start the backend these logs aren't updated - having run the backend for a while the file dates/times are unchanged and there is no log for today. If I restart the backend the text that echoed to the terminal isn't in any of these logs. Am I looking in the wrong place for the backend logs? What I'd like to find is some log that shows when the backend died and then try to correlate this time with any other evidence I can dig out. Any suggestions? I've copied what's shown on the terminal when I start "mythbackend -d" below. Is the mysql issue on line 2 a clue? Code: $ mythbackend -d

Actually, if you run sudo mythbackup or select backup from the menu, it will check the db for you. |
