Post subject:  NFS troubles

I've just installed R6 latest updates and all to my SBE. I have all my media mounted in /mnt in this SBE. However it wont mount on my MBE.

Code:
mount.nfs: mount to NFS server 'bigdog:/mnt/TV' failed: RPC Error: Program not registered

This is all I get when I try to run the mount /mnt command

Media plays on the SBE fine.

rpcinfo -p does not show nfs running and I can't seem to get it running as it say portmap isn't running. Can't get portmap to start either.

Dont know if I'm going in the right direction or not.

TIA

OK, looks like I had to start the nfsd service with the helper script and I'm OK. Maybe this is a function of installing as SBE? Maybe this is due to my odd setup where drives on both M&S/BE's are shared both ways? Maybe I just borked something on my own...

You can setup NFS via the Service Menu. That is perhaps the easier way for most to do so.

Hey Cecil, yes the Service Menu is the easiest way. However seems I just have a 'non-standard' setup with multiple mount points and need to do much of it manually.

The question is, is nfs running (set to start on the server (server you are trying to mount)) on the server? On that system:
Code:
sudo sv start nfsd
If you get an error about the service not being available, changes are runit doesn't know about the daemon.
Code:
sudo add_service.sh nfsd
sudo sv start nfsd
