So I installed R5.5 on Sunday and was getting a weird error on trying to set a channel causing some recordings to just mysteriously fail. Solution described was to delete and recreate the input cards, video sources, etc.

Did that, and after I hit escape to leave setup, it prompted me to set the starting channels since the 2 analog tuners (pvr500) were set to channel 3, which didn't exist. So I re-entered that section and scanned for analog.

Scanned the analog line, then went into the second tuner to make sure it was set. As soon as I hit next or finish or something, a mysterious sound file started playing. Music at first, then it went into 2 people talking.

Escaping out back to the main setup window stopped it, but going back in immediately started playing that sound file from the start again.

Is this some kind of system alert telling me everything is working, or is something really goofy going on with my settings?

I'm not finding anything about it in the docs, nor did it happen when I first installed R5.5 although that was obviously not setup fully correctly before.

I can do better. I did a find for *.mp3 and this is what showed up:
AWA_09-10-19.mp3

This is the file that plays.

It's in the /myth/stream/downloads/dlc.sun.com/seti/podcast folder.

I can upload it but it's on this site here:
http://evo.podcastpickle.com/ViewPodcast.php?id=14875

It's the one called Seth's Storage Locker on Mon, 19 Oct 2009

Ask me why it's on my machine. Go ahead. Ask. I got absolutely no idea. Must have been on the R5.5 iso.

The only thing I did besides run the default install is run the nvidia driver unpack per the instructions.

Wow dude, I have no idea. I was thinking it might be the oss test audio or something which is why I asked to hear it.

I'm not even sure how to play it in the myth interface. The only way I knew it was the same was to sftp it to my windows box and play it there.

I believe I figured out what causes it.

I generally run setup by using alt-S while on the regular myth menu (view media, etc).

Seems remote clicks are still operating on the regular menu while clicking through the setup screen.

My assumption was that only the top menu would be operating and accepting clicks, and any hidden windows/menus wouldn't.

Pretty silly of me.
