I'm thinking about putting some sort of DLNA client on my wish
list. Perhaps something like the Samsung BD390 blue ray player
that also has a Netflix front-end.

IMO, something that can act as a Netflix client, a MythTv
frontend, and play DVDs would be the "killer applicance." It
needs to be silent and boot up quickly.

However, there's one big question I haven't been able to
answer:

After watching a recording with a DLNA client (e.g. BD390), can
you delete the recording the way you can with a MythTv frontend?

I've found postings from people using a PS3 as a DLNA client
complaining that they can't delete recordings. But, I don't
know if that's a shortcoming of the PS3 or of the DLNA protocol
itself.

Can anybody shed any light on whether or not DLNA clients can
delete recordings?

All of my research indicates that DLNA clients can't delete recordings.

It also seems that skip forward/backward and ff/rewind
generally don't work ether.

That, IMO, makes DLNA pretty much useless...

This article has dissuaded me from purchasing a DLNA TV:

I'm guessing, (but not sure) that a uPNP client integration into the TV would be a desirable substitute.
