I just recently got a new R6.03 system working. I noticed my system time displays four hours ahead of the local time (Eastern - US). I checked my system time in the bios and fixed it manually, but it returned to four hours ahead on a reboot. I have the correct time zone selected in my LinHES configuration. The Pamphlet states: "KnoppMyth include NTP server which should keep your time synced." Does anyone know how to debug this? It's making scheduled recordings difficult. |

By system time, do you mean BIOS time? 4 hours ahead of Eastern is UTC time which is what BIOS should display. In an xterm, what does date and date -u show? I think there is a way to get linux to use local time in the BIOS, but I've never used it because it causes problems with daylight savings. |

EDIT: Not sure why it made a difference. I had been selecting "America, Eastern" as my time zone. I tried "US, Eastern" and the local time displays properly now after reboot. date and date -u both show the same thing: Mon Sep 20 13:03:37 UTC 2010 which is exactly four hours ahead of local time, and equal to UTC. By "system time" I mean the day/time that LinHES displays on its home screen. This happens to be the same as my BIOS time. I have changed the BIOS time manually multiple times, but it resets to UTC upon reboot. Currently, I have to do manual scheduling of recordings and cast everything four hours ahead, which is a pain. |

If you set the TZ to something that isn't recognised, the system will default to UTC. Apparently, America/Eastern isn't recognized and US/Eastern is. You might want to open up a ticket on this. |

All of my machines I use the UTC time for the BIOS settings. I then set the time zone to the appropriate settings inside of Knoppmyth/Linhes. |
