Post subject:  IPTV, MPEG2, M3U8, and MP4 (acronym soup)

I was testing recording an IPTV channel with LinHES using the freebox IPTV recorder. I have some observations and some questions.
1. If I manually schedule a recording or if I try to watch live TV on the IPTV "tuner" then the rest of my upcoming recordings disappear. The channels only come back when I delete the IPTV card that was used for the recording.
2. My stream is mp4, why is the tuner saving it as h.264 with a *.mpg ending?
3. How else can I just record the h.264 stream as mp4 file?
4. Live TV crashes to a black screen, mythfrontend has to be killed with top and restarted.
5. Is there a better way to capture an mp4 stream from the internet?

I'm trying to record my football team's radio coverage even when I'm at work.
