Were you able to get the remote working that came with your card?

If you read my post you would see that I did. The bit that says "and then the remote works!" is a dead giveaway.

But seriously, I'm glad that there is someone else with a DVICO (other than a Lite) trying to use KnoppMyth. I think the remote is a pretty good one. I'm still pretty much using the key mapping from Chris Pascoe's site but I have been thinking for a while that I would like to make some changes. Just haven't got around to it.

You should really start a new thread If you end up needing help with your setup since this has strayed from the original topic of this thread.

I've got a DVICO FusionHDTV Plus. I thought that I saw something in the KnoppMyth changelog about it being patched for this card, but I guess I saw something else. Bummer. Guess its time to do some kernel compiling.

I've also got the DViCO FusionHDTV DVB-T Plus low profile card. KnoppMyth 15.1 recongnised the card and I could get tzap to work, but I could not seem to get any picture in MythTV or record any shows. So I followed Greg's lead and used Chris Pascoe's patch of the kernel, now it works a treat! I have modified Greg's script to get the channels working for Sydney (North Shore), and all is working very well (apart from the remote which I need to spend some more time on). To get Myth to scan the DVB-T channels I had to change the bandwidth from 'auto' to '7Mhz' and then it seemed to work (most of the time).

Here is the portion of the script that sets up the card and channels:

Code:
echo updating database with card, input and channel info.

As you can see I've commented out the HDTV channels as my PIII is not fast enough to cope. I've also tweaked tv_grab_au (nineMSN version) to capture ABC2 and SBS News. Still need to add the icons.

If it helps here is the channels.conf that I grabed a few weeks ago:

Has anybody in Sydney managed to get the following extra [1] channels to work?

digital tv 4
Digital Datacast 44 (a datacast channel guide)
Channel 41 (ABC news, sport and weather)
Channel 45 (NSW Government information)
Channel 46: Australian Christian Channel
Channel 47: Macquarie Digital provides topical financial information and commentary.
Channel 49 (a home shopping channel)
Parliamentary Audio channels from House of Representates, the Senate and Parliamentary Committees.

I am able to "scan" the channels successfully using mythtv-setup, but when I try to change to the channels, myth says it can't get a channel/lock ...

Yes to all (plus 48 which is a copy of 44). This was from North Ryde this morning, using MythTV 0.19. Can't remember if it worked on 0.18.blah.

D44 and friends are notoriously difficult to pick up - I can't get them at home because the signal is usually too weak.

Guys,

I'm a newbie to this and I am thinking of converting my D1 HMC (http://www.d1.com.au/HMC.html) to a KnoppMyth box. Is runs Mandrake 10.1, but I haven't been able to get any more info - even to see if it has a desktop environment installed, nor how to run the desktop up.

However, from what I am readin in this post it all looks TERRIFYING

So..... :?:

1] Should I really attempt this or should I try to "upgrade" my D1 HMC software.

2] Is there any info, code etc you guys want, that I might get off this commercial, digital implementation (it runs OK, limitations are my location in Blue Mountains of NSW and signal strength etc.)

Please stop posting your request in multiple areas. It will get picked up with just one request. Four and you'll just annoy people. You're in Sydney, you have an old d1 box, and you want to scan for channels. Simple, assuming the box has two digital cards. After setting up an account with the community guide or icetv (and you must also select channels), install knoppmyth with "country=au" as a boot option.
I wrote scripts to detect this, and to make the epg setup really easy. You just have to put your EPG username and password in during the setup and it will connect to the 'net and download your channel choices and match these to the scanned channels then update the database accordingly.
Very simple and all documented on my web site (http://www.better-access.com)

Mike

That's pretty easy then. You'll just have to perform the additional step of setting up the card when you are asked to do a channel scan. Add the card first, associate it with the source "digital" and do a channel scan.

Of course, you could add a second card first (I would).
