MythTV 0.18 maybe released any day now. As I have other issues to contend with, I will be producing a release shortly there after. For those that want to a it yesterday, you can get the source, apply the diffs in /usr/src/mythtv/sources and build debs. More info on building the debs can be found in the MythTV docs.

MythTV 0.18 was just released and I downloaded the source code. I tried to apply the diff files in the /usr/src/mythtv/sources directory but they are set to apply to mythtv-0.17 not mythtv-0.18. How do I modify the diff files so that they will apply to MythTV 0.18?

Thanks!

yeah that may be a problem, and much of the basic structure of the packages has changed. there are only three packages instead of many, and the settings.pro has been removed in lue of advances in the configure script. Your best bet is probably to just wait on cesman. He's already working on it, so it might not be as long as expected.

For those that are very impatient you could try compiling from CVS. Last time I tried, however, I got some QString::arg errors, which I suspect means it now requires a newer version of QT than what is installed with R4V5. I was able to modify the code slightly to get around those.

you are correct R4v5 has an older versio of QT that is not supported anymore by mythtv (at the moment anyway)

I noticed there were some commits posted about making mythtv work with older versions of qt. I downloaded from CVS last night, and sure enough it built without errors.

Just to add some infos

I succeeded to compile the 0.18 version with my r4v5 system. I didn't tried yet because I want to be sure I could revert things if I break something.

Does someone succeeded to compile and use 0.17 or 0.18 on r4v* ?

Btw my system is based on PVR-250, lirc.

Thanks in advance

Yhan

I'm running R4V5 and I went to CVS shortly after the 0.17 came out. I've been keeping up to date every week or so since then. Other than about a week before 0.18 I havn't had a problem. I had no troubles getting 0.18 to compile.

Oh, and I can't seem to get yesterdays checkout to compile. I will need more time to look into it.

I have had to use the --disable-xrandr option in the configure script. I've wondered if this is an issue with Knoppmyth or my system specifically. Did you get it to compile without this?

No I have had to use that option too.

I'll backup my box, and give it a try. I think tar will be my best friend for the next days.

Thanks for the feedback

Have a good week-end

Yhan

If it's a problem with knoppmyth it's a problem with older versions, because I've actually used the xrandr stuff in R5A? (didn't really do what I wanted, but it worked)

Ignore my comment about not getting yesterday's CVS to build. I forgot to setup QTDIR.
