I upgraded to R5A15.1 and since then some programs do not record. I get the duration of the program displayed in recorded programs but just a B for file size and no preview, the file is empty. This is not a reception issue since one program never records on one channel but records other programs on the same channel. Also this problem did not occur before in the previous version I used, R4V3. Most programs record but at random some do not except one program that never records. I am using DVB-T.

Again the problem is intermittant  , regardless of channel, most the time MythTv records, although Dr Who during the week days almost NEVER records.

I have 2 identical TwinHan Vision-Plus ( Excel ) DVB-T cards that I have swapped around in case one was faulty. Problem still occurs. I am playing around with ATSC signal lock, ATSC threshold and HD ringbuffer settings as this seems to be a "signal lock" problem. Any other signal/tuning tweaks that can be done as well?

Yamez,

I get the exact same problem. I think you are on the right track, as that was my thought about the channel tuning thing. The thing that is most confusing is that I can watch TV fine on these channels.

Please could anyone help with point us in the right direction to rectify this problem, I have missed enough football as it is

thanks

I forgot to point out, from my previous post, I did upgrade to Knoppmyth R5A16 and the problem STILL occurs. I will try another Linux distro and keep you informed. Surely other people are having this problem?

Jumping from distro to distro isn't really doing much. Since you are using DVB-T, do you know for certain you have a good signal? How much free space do you have? Have you taken a look at the backend log?

I agree with cesman. You would be better off trying to run the latest svn of mythtv to see if any fixes have been made that effect your problem. And perhaps even trying the latest kernel.

I have no doubt that it is the signal strength and suspect that it is the weather that is doing it. When I tune for channels I am only getting a 30% signal strength, so any inclement weather will certaningly interfere with this.

As to using a later kernel, I did try at one stage try to use a later kernel, but there were too many new options and I just got confused and it didn't work.

I am planning on upgrading my cable to RG-6 with F-type connectors to improve the signal transfer, so I feel that this will help some. Plus the new version of KnoppMyth when it is released

I am getting 30 to 33 % signal strength, channel SBS and 7 being the weakest. I will try placing the Myth box on another Antenna setup (different house ) which I know has better reception. You probably are right about signal strength since no one else has had this problem. I'll try using just one tuner card too since spliting the antenna cable weakens the signal.

It still bugs me though that this problem did not occur with R4V3 and that "Roy & HG Memphis half hour" on channel 2 at the same time every week, consistantly does NOT record. Maybe I was using just one tuner with R4V5, I can't remember. Maybe the DVB-T drivers in kernel 2.6.x are slightly more "sensitive" to signal strength.

I should probably try the same thing as the father in law lives in direct line of sight of Mt Cootha (Brisvegas) where the transmitters are, so I think I would have a good chance of getting a good signal.

Signal strength is not the issue. I am getting a minimum of 80% signal strength. When a 3 way splitter is attached I lose 10%. As a confirmation, I borrowed a Humax DVB setup box and the signal strength is the same as reported by MythTV. I have just installed R5A22 and done the signal testing under this release, so lets see if this fixes the issue.

R5A22 has fixed the problem. Every show is recording. Must have been a kernel/driver issue with my DVB-T card. Funny that it only seemed to effect 2 people on this forum.
