Hi all.

Can anyone make any sugestions to minimize the buffer time when watching live tv?

At the moment I have about a 4 second delay on the live stream, the main problem being that it takes 4 seconds from pressing my cable stb remote button to actually switch to a new channel (more if I go through myth directly, but that's understandable since I use a command line util to do the switching).

Is this a normal delay, or a bit too long?

If I can cut this delay down it would be the clinch factor to finally persuade my flatmate that our new myth box (and therefore linux) is superior to our old crappy showshifter setup.

So come on guys, help me to save another soul...

PS I'd be happy to submit any logs, I just don't know what would be appropriate.

Cheers.

mk

A few seconds is pretty normal. Instead of traditonal channel surfing try using browse mode or the program guide to switch channels instead. It takes a slight mental shift, but once you learn the new pattern you'll be glad you did.
