Look in the backend log file and see what the filename it is trying to delete is. Touch that file.
Go back into delete recordings and delete it and it will work.
If a file is deleted from outside myth, it won't let you delete the database entries for some reason.

It's a safety feature added to MythTV semi-recently. The idea is that if the partition where your recordings live isn't mounted deleting files could be "bad". There are several ugly cases that this prevents, auto expiration, dangling files, ... A search over on the MythTV Users or Dev mailing list archives should turn up the relevant details...
