Post subject: | frontend crashes when exiting live tv |
Often, but not always, when I'm exiting live tv back to the main menu, the front end segfaults back to the desktop. I've upgraded from R5a12 to R5A16, but this didn't solve the problem. Searching the forums & mailing list hasn't turned up any answers. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this a known bug? Anybody know of a solution or workaround? My config is: R5A16 (myth 0.18.1(?)) combined FE/BE Chaintech 7nif2 w/onboard nvidia graphics 1.9ghz Athlon XP 512mb 1x PVR 250 If this has already been discussed, and I just missed, I aplogize in advance. Thanks |

I (read wife) has had this problem for some time. As frequently when exiting a recording, but also when leaving live tv. It just pops out with the same segfault. Err, I have a remote button that relaunches it when this happens, but still rather annoying. This happens probably a few times a week. Similar config, Gigabyte 7nif2, FX5200, XP 3000, 1 gig, 3x PVR 250. |

I can't say we have a real problem with this, but I have seen the GF do it though I cannot reproduce the results myself. Generally on my machine and it's rare even at this it happens when she inters livetv or recording accidentally and then backs out immediately before anything starts the I occasionally get a segfault if the remote happens to be in the GF's hands. |

Well that settles it then, it must be the (female) significant others in our lives that is to blame. I'll double check to notice if my wife is in the room next time it happens. ![]() I remember the "restart frontend" button from Jarod Wilson's guide. Maybe I should do that. I've just been procrastinating getting out the book for my remote to figure out out to program new functions onto the remote. Any suggestions on how to futher diagnose this problem, eg, log output, etc? |

You could try The stuff in this thread to find out where it is crashing. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... hlight=gdb |

I'll give that a try when I get a chance. Still haven't come upon an answer. It seems that the latest version crashes more than when I was running .17/R5A12. |
