Post subject:  Questions about MythTV

Okay, I'm new to this so I naturally have some questions.

From what I've read, it looks like MythTV is a server os. What I would like to know is if it would be a trivial matter to attach the hard drive from my set top box as a network drive. So, if I have another machine running WINXP connected to the same router, can I download the recordings to that machine. It just seems that it would be easier to burn movies to DVD this way.

With KnoppMyth, do I need to keep the cdrom in the drive since the cdrom is the front end?

yes you can share out files. It's not setup by default, but not hard to setup. there is a wiki page on interaction with windows that shows how. And no you do not have to leave the cd in the drive all the time. the frontend and backend both get installed on the harddrive.

MythTV isn't a server OS. MythTV isn't even an operating system. I'd suggest you take a gander at mythtv.org.
