Would someone please enlighten me what the difference between adsp and dsp is?

Is there any difference between /dev/dsp and /dev/dsp0? (shouldn't the first device be 0?)

How do I know what card is what as far as /dev/dsp, /dev/dsp0, /dev/dsp1, etc.

Would certain devices use two or three /dev/dsp/ "slots"?

I'd like to find out exactly which sound chip I am using for in and out.

/dev/dsp is most likely a link to /dev/dsp0

Similar links probably exist for many devices
