If you want to install a newer version of the NVidia driver than Cecil's wrapper script supports, the best thing to try is clone his script, change the version numbers, and use that to do the install. The changes needed are trivial, just so long as you make sure to fix all the occurances of the version string.

Having battled with the raw Nvidia scripts in the past I can tell you that this avoids a huge number of problems.
