I'm using MythTv 0.181 from the newest knoppmyth iso. It's been working perfectly except for one thing, when recording only on specific stations it messes up the time completely, usually only giving maybe 20 seconds for the length, you can watch the whole episode, but if you try rewinding, fast forwarding or skipping commercials it freezes and goes back to the recording list. I cannot find anywhere another example of this (remember it only happens on some channels), has anyone seen this or have any ideas of how to fix it, it's rendering the benefits of recording (skipping commercials) almost useless on my favorite channels. thanks.

two things..

1 it doesnt have a set length for recording.. it calculates it based on frames.. and frames-per-second. THis can have bugs occasionaly to have wrong lengths.

2) if its actualy cause seeking problems its more likely that your mysql table might have problems.. there is a sticky around here on howto check for corrupt tables.. cesman posted it, so use the search feature.. and report back :)

good luck

Well I'm not sure if the solution works yet, simply because the shows that it usually gives me troubles with aren't on unitl Monday, it did find two problems with the tables which I repaired. But however, after doing that I rebooted and it gave me an error saying that my home directory was full and thus GDM could not log me in. I was still able to log in with root and using 'df' I found out that for some reason my hd1 is completely full. Now, I haven't touched this except to install firefox and it has not given me a problem before. Since I'm not too familiar with fluxbox is there console way to search for the largest files on a file system? I think there may be some renegade tmp or log file that just ballooned and is now giving me problems. Thanks.

Well my mythbacken.log files were huge (250 and 150 mb's) but those were filled up with "out of space" errors, and by no way take up 30 gig's of space i have on my root directory. The /var/log/message and kernel logs are extremely small. Any more ideas?

Also, I'm trying to get the S-VIDEO out port on my video card (standard nvidia card that came with 1.7 ghz dell dimensions) to work. By all accounts I should be able to install the nvidia drivers and viola, it'll work. But when I try to install the drivers it cannot find my kernel source, though it is where it's trying to look. any links to solutions for this either?

Hi,
Before you can do much, you will probably need to clean house a little. Try this link for some ideas also.

Well, the original problem is fixed, everything recorded now works just fine. I even managed to get the nvidia drivers installed and runnning... right up until I reboot.

The new problem is that when I restart I get an error that it cannot load the X server. When I check the XFree86.log.0 file it shows this:
