I hope someone can shed some light on what's happening.

I've followed the Fedora howto on my dedicated Celeron 2800, PVR-350 box, and finally got most things working. (I had to switch to WindowMaker from KDE as X was taking up 99% CPU under KDE).

However, Watch TV stops working after 20 seconds and puts me back in the main menu.

I've checked the output from mythfrontend, and when WatchTV crashes I get :

2005-08-04 17:38:14.219 WriteStringList: Bad socket
2005-08-04 17:38:14.220 ReadStringList: Bad socket
Remote encoder not responding.

The backend log just makes a reference to "switching to none", but no error messages.

I've tried "dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16" and it works fine for hours at a time. The picture quality seems to be better when using "dd" as well.

My system is setup as follows :

DMA on the hard drives
Myth outputting using the PVR decoder.
Using the default sound installed by Fedora. Have not installed ALSA.
xorg.conf is setup to use the ivtv framebuffer, (this works fine - X appears on my TV)
PC and TV based in the UK.

It's taken me 2 weeks to get to this point, and I did a little victory dance last night when I finally got a broadcast displaying on my TV, only to wilt with dissappointment when it turned off 20seconds later...

If you are using updated firmware for your PVR-350, make sure you power off your PC and disconnect the power cable for 10 seconds.

Your PVR-350 WILL NOT use the new firmware you load into it until it completely looses power and comes back on line.

I have had this problem on occassion and whagt I usually find is that something has gone astray with the backend. I generally restart my backend and it seems to work after that.
