I wanted to get the xymouse program to work and when I complied I got an error about not finding X11 libs even though I specified a directory for them. Against my better judgement I did a apt-get install libx11-dev and that worked except it fails to setup the locales.

Quote:
mn_MN.UTF-8.../usr/share/i18n/locales/mn_MN:221: LC_TIME: syntax error
dpkg: error processing locales (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
locales
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I then removed the libx11-dev libs, and rebooted, and anything in mythtv that has a "depends" section in the menu xml file won't show up any more. I tried installing libx11-dev again, if I try and install mythplugins manually from the local .deb, I get this error:

Quote:
/usr/src/mythtv/i686/modules# dpkg -i mythplugins_0.18.1-1_i686_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package mythplugins.
(Reading database ... 54745 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking mythplugins (from mythplugins_0.18.1-1_i686_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of mythplugins:
mythplugins depends on kdelibs4 (>= 4:3.3.2-4.0.2); however:
Package kdelibs4 is not installed.
dpkg: error processing mythplugins (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
mythplugins

And of course, if I try and install kdelibs4, I get another unmeet dependency, and so forth.

Is this system a lost cause or is there something I can do to fix it?

Thanks a lot[/quote]

First I'd suggest fixing locales, then reinstall the needed package(s).
Code:
dpkg-reconfigure --force locales
Uncheck the local that does build successfully.

That fixed the locales problem, thanks.

After a few more attempts with dpkg to try and reinstall the plugins and more failures, and a reboot or two, the buttons are all back on the menu, I have no idea what I did to fix that.
