I am really excited about mythtv. I have been looking for a good way to get pvr or VOD server (video on demand) so my question is this can I use vmware on my 64(windows) box and run knoppmyth and still use knoppix for using linux in my everyday use ? also can you use mythtv as a VOD server if so pls give me extensive details on this would be much appreciated thx again ICE_9 _____________________________________________________________ Fan of knoppix and mythtv |

Sorry, I don't think VMWare allows one to to use certain hardware. You'd need a tuner card for instance, you'd need XV support for X. When I last used VMWare (years ago), it didn't allow any of this... |

I know vmware will work with debian for sure ( I 'm sure it works with knoppix too just haven't tried and having a tuner card can't I juat hook up to my charter cable box ? FOR capture I was going to use the wintv 350 since I heard it works really well |

My point is that VMWare may not allow you to use the hardware you must use for a PVR. I'm sure you realize VMWare is a virtual machine. It may not allow you to use the hardware one would natively use. If you search the MythTV archive, you may find a definitive answer. |
