I have copied all my avi's to the /myth/video folder according to this http://pvrhw.goldfish.org/mirrors/mysettopbox.tv/ site. When I go into mythtv I click on the "Watch Videos" button, but when I go there it shows video/ at the top but doesn't display any of the avi's or directories that are contained within. Is there something I have to do to tell myth that the files are present and should be used.

I'm obviously a newbie so be nice.

Thanks,

Chris Shuman

You have to first add them via Video Manager (it's one menu off of the main menu, I think in setup). Then they'll appear when you go back to Watch Videos.

Thanks for the help, that worked great. Now that I got that taken care of, on to problem number two.

When I select the avi file I want to watch it goes to the information? screen that lists the "Directed by", rating and other meta data that I don't have loaded but the video never plays. If I hold down the enter key an overlay will flash that says "loading. . ." with the file title below it, but the video will not come up. I have the same problem with mplayer when trying to launch from the desktop as well (which is what I assume the problem is).

apt-get upgrade? Can I pick and choose which files to upgrade (mplayer)?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Chris

Check your mplayer path in "Utilities / Setup\Setup\Media Setting\Video Settings\Player Settings" and make sure it's /usr/bin/mplayer and NOT /usr/local/bin/mplayer.

Also may want to follow this HOWTO on upgrading Mplayer and codecs by Grasky.

Making the change to /usr/bin/mplayer did the job!

OK, at this point the post subject doesn't make sense anymore as the only remaining issue is the lack of sound. It appears as though it's pointing to /dev/dsp and dev/mix.

Is there an "On" button for the sound somewhere? Didn't think so.
