I am wondering if I need a patch cable from my line out(capture card)->line in(sound card) if I am using a hd3000 to pull in OTA HD and no analog card. I have read that the digital stream has the audio embedded so I am thinking it should just go out of my sound card, but I haven't been able to get sound working yet.

no you do not need that little cable when you are doing digital tv it is only used if you were using the analog portion of the hd3000.
