I have two machines, remote frontend running R5A16 and master backend running R5A15.1... both are athlon based machines with nvidia tv out. I know this isn't a hardware issue because they both worked fine back in the R4V4 days.

The problem: when the remotefront is on and connected to the masterbackend I cannot get the FF or REV and/or jump features to work smoothly on that machine. This problem is also present on the master backend machine (i.e. if you try to FF say 3x or 5x speed it goes for about 2 seconds and then the video freezes). The only timestreching that works at all is the commercial skip.

Anyone have anythoughts on this? I searched but came up empty handed.

Thanks!

There was another thread that seemed similar to this I cannot remember the resolution, but I seem to remember that the person tested booting the frontend off the cd and the symptoms dissapeared, if this happens for you as well it might give us a good starting point.

If it's the issue that we had, we found out it was because the mythtv-backend was running on the frontend. Once we stopped that all was well with the 30 sec skip stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll try botting from the CD to see if that makes a difference.

@DrGonzo: I actually followed the install procedure on the wiki, part of which is to disable /etc/init.d/mythbackend which I did.

Thanks again for the suggestions. Anyone else?
