I tried getting to my MythTV web page to look at schedule/set up recordings.

It won't load. I get a "Opening page" in my IE status bar, but it never loads.

I SSH (using PuTTY) and can ls, uptime and other simple commands, but others won't work and seem to just lock up the PuTTY session. Occasionally, doing a 'ls' will hang the system as well.

uptime shows the load is under .2%

df shows
/ is 42% used
/cache is 1% used
/myth is 93% used

I'm not a linux expert and can't find the cause of this slowness/freezing up of my ssh (and wscp) sessions and the web interface not loading.

Using the silver PVR-350 remote, the box seems to operate normally and I don't have locking up problems - it's just remote access via the network.

I have it connected to a hub (10 Meg) with 1 other computer on it, then the hub connected to a big switch to the rest of my network.

This used to work normally, but recently started this problem.

Suggestions?

well, the command top will list all processes that are running, the default sorting is by CPU usage (man top will show other options) its a pretty good tool to show what is going on.

secondly, I would look in hte system logs. /var/log/syslog /var/log/kern.log dmesg. maybe there are clues in there.

Like I said, issuing a 'top' command give no output. It just hangs and doesn't display any info.

I'll try to check the logs, but I'm not so confident I'll be able to do that.

I'll post results (if I can get them)

I smell this is a network error, please try to change an old hub 10 Mb for a new and well hub.

Correct about the network error.

I actually realized this yesterday. I moved the cable to a different port in the hub and it works fine.

I did get a wireless card and will sometime try to get that working. But until then, it's working on a different port in the hub.
