i have checked the BIOS time its correct..... but it time in mythtv (like when u watch tv...) it is about 13 hours ahead....(or add one hour and switch the AM/PM) so wtf gives.... |

Timezone. Particularly how far are you from GMT? 13 hours sounds like about NZ or maybe Hawaii. Search for posts by me that mention timezone and you should find the steps to fix this. |

If the ntpd does not keep your system clock in line, you can also find a script that will update your time regularly as well. |

I believe the BIOS should be set to GMT. If it is set to local time, that may be your problem. To test when you are logged in:
[EDIT]: Or use NTP. Search the forums for ntpdate. If the difference is incorrect, you need to set your timezone correctly. Search the forums for timezone. Cheers, Allen |

In your problem, is the time always off by a certain amount, or is it slowly getting worse and worse? I just put the newest version of knoppmyth on a brand new computer and am having time issues as well. I set the bios clock to the correct time, and things looked fine in mythtv. Then, as I sat and played with it, I noticed that the time was starting to get off. For instance, at 12 noon I set the correct time and started watching tv. By 12:15, mythtv would think that the time was actually 12:30, and this will continue until the clock is days out of sync. Also, when I reboot, mythtv writes the system time to the hardware clock, so it never gets fixed. Any ideas? ~patrick |

Edit lilo.conf and add noacpi to the append line. If memory serves, that should fix it. You may want to search the forum first to verify. |

thanks for all your help..... i am now useing the autoupdate script..... thats helping a lot! i figured it out.... the BIOS time was (sometimes) correct.... i nothiced this when the BIOS settings were getting reset.... as was the time... i replaced the little button battery and reset te BIOS time and the other settings... now its all good! thanks again |
