Post subject: | MythTV freezes when trying to watch TV or DVD. |
First, I'm totally new to Linux and MythTV. I've succeeded to install myThTV. When I try to watch TV or DVD, it freezes after one or two seconds. I have to push the reset button. (for now, it's not connected to the TV. it's still connected to my monitor) This is my config: Athlon XP Mobile 2500 + AN7 Abit nvidia fx 5200 128 MB. 1024 DDR (dual channel , elixir ddr400, no problems with it I ran memtest for more than 6 hours without any error). Maxtor DM 10 250 GB 16MB cache. DVDRW Pioneer DVR-110D Hauppauge WinTV 150 I set my capture card as Hauppauge 250/350 in backend, because mine was not listed even if I can see "winTv 150 detected" in the ivtv section when the computer boots. I'm using KnoppMyth R5A16. I've installed nvidia-7754 or something like that. Any idea? |

I've installed from scrap KnoppMyth R5A22. Now, it still freezes about after 5-6 seconds when watching TV. For DVD , It doesn't freeze anymore but it quits and return to MythTV interface. Any idea |

Are you overclocking? Is PnP enabled in the BIOS? Are devices sharing IRQs? Have you tried the 150 in another slot? |

cesman, no I'm not overclocking (actually downclocking), no PNP is not enabled in the BIOS. Yes there are devices sharing IRQs. I think WINTV150 is sharing an IRQ. How can I be sure it's sharing IRQ or not. I'm totally newbie, I don't know the command. And no I didn't try the 150 in another slot. I don't know if it changes something but I don't use the tuner of the card but the Svideo input because I'm on the digital Cable. Also, KnoppMyth couldn't use ACPI at the install. |

Actually for PNP I think it's enabled. In PnP/Pci Configurations I have Reset Configuration Data : Disabled Resources Controlled by : Auto (ESCD) Here it is a screenshot... |

When TV freezes, I can put the num lock on or off until I'm trying Ctrl +Alt +F1 (or f2). Nobody has any idea ? |

I am having a very similar problem, but my box crashes after about half an hour of either watching live TV, or recording. I'm running Fedora Core 4 with MythTV and a PVR500 on an Athlon XP 2000+ with 512 Meg Ram and a Radeon 9200 graphics card. - Should PnP be enabled in the Bios or not, I think it is? - A device is sharing an IRQ with, I think, the graphics card, how do I change this? I found it is from looking at one of the system utilities on the KDE desktop. - I have tried using the card in the second PCI slot to have less IRQ sharing displayed. Documentation on PVR 500 said it may be required to put it in PCI 1 or 2 on some machines. (The PVR 500 is 2*PVR 150 combined on one card). - I'm doing a memery test now using Memtest-86 - How do I find out if my computer is overclocked? - the command "yum install ivtv-kmdl-FedoraKernelVersionHere" returns nothing when running as described on http://www.wilsonet.com/mythtv, what is this, and is it required? Sorry about all the questions, but I have been trying many things, even a new hard drive, and fedora install, which failed due to the yum install ivtv-kmdl* part. Thanks, Nathan O'Hanlon |
