Does anyone know why (or how to fix) this on my Knoppmyth (R15A16) box. About every 24 hours, the clock gains 1.5 minutes. Is there a way to control the speed of the clock. I've tried reinstalling, but it doesn't help. It sucks that every day I have to re-set the clock so my scheduled recordings don't end before the show is over.

You are a small little man, search and you would have found that this problem has been covered a number of times. There is even a script that will let you set your clock off the net. Look fro ntpupdate

also some nforce2 boards have bad clock drift, and there is a boot option you can set in lilo that helps, I can't remember the exact details, but that should be enough to search by.

I was having a very similar problem on my myth box last week. Time was going at about 1.5 speed.

On the advice of cesman, I added pci = noacpi to the append line of lilo.conf.

I also turned off the APCI features in my BIOs based on another recommendation.

I did both at the same time, so I'm not sure which one fixed the problem, but I no longer have clock drift without having to ping an ntp server every couple of minutes.

Thanks for the responses. I did find that script, but I was hoping there would be more of a fix than workaround. I haven't adjusted my clock in two days and it still is accurate (I haven't tried any of the above yet). I'm not sure what happened, but it hasn't been fast since I last updated it two days ago. If I try the noacpi, I'll write back with the results. Thanks again.

I don't see it as a workaround.. It's a real solution. CPU clocks get out.. this fixes the problem permanently and automatically. Turn this baby on, and you'll forget that your machine was ever out of whack.
