Post subject:  Import DVD - no audio, just noise/distortion

When I insert a DVD and play it back, it works just fine...I get video and audio without problem. However, when I try to Import DVD, when I go to play it back all I get is a mix of buzzing/distortion/whitenoise. However, the video is fine...just the audio us messed up. I'm not sure what's causing it. I've tried searching and found nothing. I tried the various audio streams (AC3 6 channel, AC3 2 channel, DTS) and I've tried checking/unchecking the AC3 box.

I have no problems with TV nor when playing back AVI files downloaded from torrents. Just the ripped DVDs.

Playback is with a PVR-350 and a SoundBlaster Live.

Also, when importing a disc for playback on a standard Pro Logic surround sound system (no Dolby Digital or DTS) what is the correct audio stream to extract (AC3 2 channel? AC3 box checked?)

Has no one else ever experienced this? Since my last post, I did get it to work fine with other DVDs (I've ripped about a dozen different ones). Now I've found another one where it does work. You can hear the audio faintly, but it's overpowered by a very loud buzzing/static. This time the video even shows a little bit of distortion in it.

Odd thing is, If I go to play the movie straight off the DVD it works fine, so it certainly has no trouble reading the disc. I tried ripping it on my windows machine and then throwing the entire TS_VIDEO folder on the mythbox. Individual VOB files play perfectly without problem, but of course I can't get it to seek from the end of one file to the beginning of the next. I tried using a program on my windows box to join the VOBs into 1 file. The resulting file has the same static/buzzing that the mythbox rip has.

Any ideas?

Try disabling AC3 passthrough in the General Settings.
