I had some issues with buffer sizings which I think are largely solved. Still got an issue with occassional lockups if TV left on all night. (No problems if left on Menu page) Whilst hunting thru the various setup screens I came across some buffer settings in the Advanced Recording Options (I run dual Dvico Lite DVB-T cards). Does anyone know what "Per PID driver buffer size" and "Packet Buffer" do/affect? TIA |

not to be mean but my car gets jittery if i take it over 140mph. but any mechanic will tell you "why would you want to do that? in other words.. dont leave it on overnight. you know that is just constantly buffering to your hard drive for hours.. that is going to take the life of your Harddrive down a notch.. bearings are great, but still wear with constant nonstop use. i know thats not exactly what your wanting to hear but really IMO thats not really a problem. unless you were watching tv all night.. (then we have other problems =) |

Hi bearwood, gr8nash is probably correct about the hammering but mine has been doing that for months. 
Check that your cache setting is at least 1 gig smaller than your actual cache as displayed with df -h. If df -h shows 8.4gig, set the cache size for 7 and see if that helps. I left the rest of my dtv settings as default cause I don't know any better. The cache setting applies to the analog also. Mike |

Hi Mike & gr8nash, Looks like some education is in order for the family. I only watch TV about 1hr per week so it only bothers me in that I have to sort out the problems. Yeah I know I built the system and installed the software but what else would I do - watch TV --- nah |

Hi bearwood, Once you get the little stuff out of the way, it should run till the cows come home. The only time I have issues is on the dtv when the signal gets to low because of rain or fog. Then it sometimes gets a little stupid. About the only button that can cause real indigestion is the Restore and you didn't have a current Backup. Other wise it is safe for a 5 year old to run. I know of two that do make it work
