Is this even possible? I have computer setup with Snapstream Beyond TV set up in a back bedroom. It records off of Dish Network. I've tried a few commercial links to connect the living room tv to the Snapstream over the network. Not really been happy with any of them. I instalaled Myth on a small (quite) computer to set by the tv, but I can't figure out a way for it to read the files off of the Snapstrteam computer. The Snapstream computer is used occassionally by my grown kids when visiting, so I really don't want to convert it to Linux if I can avoid it.

I don't know anything about "Snapstream". But mythtv is only really set up to use mythtv front/backends.

Depending on how your Snapstream setup stores recordings you might be able to play them using a mythtv frontend. If you can share a directory on the windows machine which contains .avi or .mpeg files you can then map that to the mythvideo directory on the mythtv frontend. Then you should be able to play any .avi or .mpeg file over the network. Actually you would just be using the mythtv interface to activate mplayer to play the files.

I too have no experience with BeyondTV, but I have read a little bit about it. As stated previously you will not directly be able to connect to BeyondTV and in theory I wouldn't mention it.

To connect MythtV to the videos, etc you have on your windows machine you will need to share the relevant directoy(s) on the windows box and then you will have to set up MythTV as a master backend and map the directory(s) from you windows box.

This will work just like a normal MythTV system, just the data will be stored on a different computer which is easily done.
