According to http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/176335
a 0.19 release of MythTV is looming.

I just started using knoppmyth, and am curious about how long I should expect between the release of MythTV 0.19 and a new release of knoppmyth that includes the new mythtv...

o man, don't ask questions like that. the guys doing the work, work the tails off getting these ready. It will be ready when it is ready. That being said, cecil has been working on svn builds and it should not be long assuming everything is stable.

Holy cow. Seemed like a fair question to me. I don't think he was pressuring anyone, just wondering. Give a guy a break.

Fair question, yea it is. I wasn't trying to be mean, but that question is like the kids in the back seat asking "Are we there yet?" A little searching around here and you will find the many other times this is asked, and the sometimes not so nice answers. Ouch.. You could expect to wait days to a couple of weeks. In other words, "It should not be long..." If you really want to play on the bleeding edge, there are instructions on how to compile and install the SVN release on your Knoppmyth box. Again, a search will turn this up. Good luck, I know some have been successful with this.

I'd say it's closer to Donkey's really annoying "Are we there yet?" bit in Shrek 2, or maybe like a bad mother-in-law joke. "Why aren't we there yet? If you'd have married that rich lawyer he'd have flown us in his private plane and we'd have been there hours ago..." ;-)

Seriously, these questions are never going to have meaningful or satisfying answers this far in advance and as a result they're really annoying.

Looks like generally between a week and 2 weeks between a mythtv release and a knoppmyth release.

Didn't mean to offend so many people.

I thought the mention of .19 being released would be interesting news, and tacking a question onto the end wouldn't be so bad.

It is, it's not, and I have one too:
I've spent several hours (several weeks ago) looking through the developers and users mailing list archives, and haven't really found any list of "what's new/fixed in .19?". Does such a thing exist?
From what I gather, there is a greatly simplified database table structure, and lots of fixes to livetv and the OSD. It will be possible to start a recording from the livetv buffer. There seem to be some changes to transcoding. I'm not sure if transcoding HD to DVD is fixed.

Is there such a list, and if not, should we start one here in the forum? If we do, we can start a new thread. People can add features that they find in the dev lists, translate into "end-user speak", and then we can put in the WiKi or something.

This one is a little easier to read.

I like the feature that allows you to go back past a channel change when skipping backwards in live tv. The number of times i have hit the up arrow expecting it to jump back 10 minutes and having it change the channel because I was watching live instead of a recording and losing the whole ringbuffer was really frustrating.
