Post subject: | How to open VideoLan Client over MythTV |
I have 3 questions 1.Does anyone know the command to open vlc over the top of MythTV. I am currently using Code: vlc -f --quiet --video-on-top except vlc keeps opeing up underneith mythfrontend and I have to alt+tab to get to it (annoying). 2. Is it possible to open a DVD from a directory with xine. I have only been able to do this with vlc. I can open iso's with xine, but have had no luck with directories. When I try to open a directory with xine it plays the first vob then freezes. I have not been able to obtain any menu functionality. Here is my current settings for xine opening ISO's. Code: xine --no-splash -pfhq dvd://% here is mysettings for xine opeing all other files Code: xine --no-splash -pfhq
3. I am also having a problem with opeing VIDEO_TS folder's. I have to manually go into video setup and set each dvd to open with vlc. For some reason I cant get mythvideo to use the setting from settings/media_settings/mythvideo/file_types/VIDEO_TS to run correctly. I am currently running 0.19 on Fedora Core 4 thanx |

I never had that problem with VLC/Linux/KnoppMyth, but did have it with Mac. I use VLC for all video playback. In my opinion, it is just better than xine/mplayer/whatever at handling all video formats with minimum of fuss (i.e., no special command-line stuff). My VLC command for KnoppMyth: /usr/bin/vlc %s vlc:quit I have configured VLC in "stay-on-top" mode (VLC preferences). It just works (sorry, I know that may not be much help). Quote: 2. My DVD player VLC command for KnoppMyth: /usr/bin/vlc dvd:// %d vlc:quit Quote: 3. I am also having a problem with opeing VIDEO_TS folder's. thank again You're very welcome. Can't recommend VLC highly enough. I handles every video format ('cept some versions of wmv). Just tell Mythvideo what file types it will see, and VLC will play them. The coolest part of VLC is that it will automount .iso, .img and .toast image files of DVDs, then treat them as DVDs. The Debian version isn't as good at this as the Mac version, as it is missing one key plugin that allows you to jump to the main menu with one key press, but still, a small price to pay. [rant] I've been trying to compile VLC for Debian for two nights in a row and I SUCK at it! I don't think I could compile friggin' water if it would save my life! Arghh! [/rant] -sTv |
