OK here's the deal: I did a fresh install of 30.2 After a successful install, I went to boot. The system hung on Code: ivtv0: loading /lib/modules/ivtv-fw-enc.bin
After I turned it off and waited awhile I tried again. This time it loaded. I went to configuring it. I got to the actual mythtv config pages. I successfully completed General, Capture Cards, and Video Sources. When I went to input connections there was nothing there. I pressed enter and was taken back out into the terminal and the rest of the install. In turing the box on and off, it randomly hangs on the same spot. I get the same result when I actually am able to config. Could the file be damaged and causing the problem. Is there any relation between the two? |

DETAILS! Without details we can't help you. Hardware (See my signature block for an example of how much detail we want). Logfile messages (see this page for what to look for http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CheckingLogFiles) ... Did you try booting the install CD using the "testcd" option to make sure it was good? The TroubleShooting page on the wiki has more things to try http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=TroubleShooting Don't forget to try vacuuming your motherboard and reseating all the components, cards, and cables. It''s amazing how much havoc a flake of aluminum or a loose connection can cause... |

Like tjc said give us details of your hardware setup. Specficaly (but not limited to) the motherboard chipset, manufacter, model and the tv capture card you are using. From what you said it seems like the tv capture card is not communicating correctly with the ivytv driver. Here are some suggestions: Try reseating it in the PCI slot. Remove all other PCI cards except the tuner. Try installing with it in EVERY PCI slot on your motherbard. Ensure that all the irqs and DMAs are set to PNP/PCI in the motherboard BIOS setup. If there is a BIOS setup option caled somthing like "PCI init reverse order" try using that. Ensure that your PCI bus is set to the nominal settings e.g. no overclocking/tweaking. |
