Post subject: | Building ivtv-0.4.0 on stock R5B7 |
I need some help. I am tring to build ivtv-0.4.0 on a new install of R5B7 to see if helps with some video issues that I am having. (video image freezes on rewind and ff, it will still rewind and ff though -- just can't see where its at) What do I need to get/do in order to build ivtv-0.4.0 on R5B7? This is what I am seeing when I try to build: root@mythtv:/mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0# make make -C driver all make[1]: Entering directory `/mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver' created ivtv-svnversion.h make CONFIG_VIDEO_IVTV=m -C /lib/modules/2.6.15-chw-2/build M=/mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver modules make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.15-chw-2' CC [M] /mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver/msp3400.o In file included from /mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver/compat.h:77, from /mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver/msp3400.c:52: include/linux/videodev.h: In function `video_device_create_file': include/linux/videodev.h:21: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type include/linux/videodev.h: In function `video_device_remove_file': include/linux/videodev.h:27: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type In file included from /mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver/compat.h:77, from /mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver/msp3400.c:52: include/linux/videodev.h:30:5: warning: "OBSOLETE_OWNER" is not defined include/linux/videodev.h: At top level: include/linux/videodev.h:204: error: `VIDEO_MAX_FRAME' undeclared here (not in a function) make[3]: *** [/mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver/msp3400.o] Error 1 make[2]: *** [_module_/mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.15-chw-2' make[1]: *** [all] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0/driver' make: *** [all] Error 2 thanks all |

I think you're SOL. It seems to need an older version of the v4l stuff, and Cecil (along with MytTV?) has moved on to v4l2. |

I've been reading a lot of threads about r5b7 and am somewhat concerned about my hardware being obsoleted. I am running 2 pvr500s and they work well out of the box under 30.2 but I have a terrible static in the audio under b7. I have been able to find very little on fixes for this either here or on the ivtv forums. I was going to stick with the 30.2 for a while to see what happens but don't want to be stuck there as myth and knoppmyth march on. I know no one has a crystal ball but should I abandon these cards? |

pvr500's are actually fairly new cards. I would say they should be supported for quite some time. |
