Post subject:  Building ivtv-0.4.0 on stock R5B7

I need some help. I am tring to build ivtv-0.4.0 on a new install of R5B7 to see if
helps with some video issues that I am having. (video image freezes on rewind and ff, it
will still rewind and ff though -- just can't see where its at)

What do I need to get/do in order to build ivtv-0.4.0 on R5B7?
This is what I am seeing when I try to build:

root@mythtv:/mp3/tmp/backups/usr/ivtv-0.4.0# make
make -C driver all

I think you're SOL. It seems to need an older version of the v4l stuff, and Cecil (along with MytTV?) has moved on to v4l2.

I've been reading a lot of threads about r5b7 and am somewhat concerned about my hardware being obsoleted. I am running 2 pvr500s and they work well out of the box under 30.2 but I have a terrible static in the audio under b7. I have been able to find very little on fixes for this either here or on the ivtv forums.

I was going to stick with the 30.2 for a while to see what happens but don't want to be stuck there as myth and knoppmyth march on. I know no one has a crystal ball but should I abandon these cards?

pvr500's are actually fairly new cards. I would say they should be supported for quite some time.
