Hello KnoppMyth community !

Thanks for the wonderful forum, during installation i came across a few problems but after searching this forum, i found answers for everything and successfully installed and operating MythTv. I have a couple of minor issues though.

I am using WinTV PVR-350 and MOB is GF6100-m7 nVidia G6100 MB. with GeForce 6100 video with 128MB Video.

1. My Channels are off by one, ie if i schedule a recording of channel 9 ( CBS ), It will record channel 10 (ABC). It is the same while "watching tv" too. If i select channel 34 (ESPN2), It will show channel 35.

2. The colors are not very sharp as it was with regular cable. Do i have to do anything with the channel editor for this ? or is it just because i dont have a good enough video card ?

3. When i do the watchTV, I get the following err msg.
"Error Opening audio device (/dev/dsp), the error was: no such device."
and then a few options for continuing. Although when i start viewing tv, i do get the audio. Here i have directly connected the audio out of the pvr-350 to the tv.

please help !
thanks

1 and 2 maybe related... I'd suggest looking at the MythTV docs. Chanell off by one has been in the troubleshooting section for some time.

Where are you located? Are you using NTSC? There are actually two different NTSC cable frequency sets. Make sure you try both. If you are using PAL every country might have a slightly different frequency set try adjusting it yourself.

I fought the channel off by one problem for a whole morning. I tried all sorts of stuff with the tuner type, etc.

It turned out that it fixed itself when I ran mythtv-setup and redid the channel lineup.

Hope this saves someone my frustration!!!

Hello cazinpa and ryanpatterson thank you for your replies. cesman thank you too for the tip. Since this forum is all encompassing with its answers to all problems regarding myth, i overlooked looking up the myth docs.

I am in US and i added the line "options tuner type = 2" to my /etc/modules.conf file, redid the channel scanning thing from the mythtv-setup and restarted the machine. Works very nice now. The display is crystal clear now :P
