Knoppmyth R5B7 with PVR-150 on an old Duron 900 VIA-Based (I know VIA but this computer was just collecting dust so worth a try). Here is the log: ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ivtv: version 0.4.3 (tagged release) loading ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.15-chw-2 SMP preempt 586 gcc-3.3 ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info between ivtv: the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines, along with ivtv: any module options, when mailing the ivtv-users mailinglist. ivtv0: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (cx23416 based) ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKB] enabled at IRQ 5 PCI: setting IRQ 5 as level-triggered ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:09.0[A] -> Link [LNKB] -> GSI 5 (level, low) -> IRQ 5 ivtv0: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32) tuner 1-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (ivtv i2c driver #0) ivtv0: i2c attach to card #0 ok [client=(tuner unset), addr=61] ivtv0: i2c attach to card #0 ok [client=tveeprom, addr=50] tveeprom 1-0050: Hauppauge model 26132, rev F0B2, serial# 9329443 tveeprom 1-0050: tuner model is TCL M2523_5N_E (idx 112, type 4) tveeprom 1-0050: TV standards NTSC(M) (eeprom 0x08) tveeprom 1-0050: audio processor is CX25841 (idx 35) tveeprom 1-0050: decoder processor is CX25841 (idx 28) tveeprom 1-0050: has no radio, has IR remote cx25840 1-0044: cx25841-23 found @ 0x88 (ivtv i2c driver #0) cx25840 1-0044: unable to open firmware v4l-cx25840.fw ivtv0: i2c attach to card #0 ok [client=cx25840, addr=44] wm8775 1-001b: chip found @ 0x36 (ivtv i2c driver #0) ivtv0: i2c attach to card #0 ok [client=wm8775, addr=1b] ivtv0: unable to open firmware v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw ivtv0: did you put the firmware in the hotplug firmware directory? ivtv0 warning: failed loading encoder firmware ivtv0 warning: Error loading firmware -3! ivtv0: Error -3 initializing firmware. ivtv0: Error -12 on initialization ivtv: probe of 0000:00:09.0 failed with error -12 ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV I run these commands I got from google after boot rmmod ivtv /etc/init.d/hotplug restart And the card will now be recognized until the next boot Here is the lspci outpur after preforming the above commands 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. The fact that the firmware loads with a manual hotplug restart should indicate my firware is in the correct place? Correct? How can I get this firware to load on boot? I am a Linux NOOB so let me know if you need any more info. This is such a great resource and program that I would love to get it running. Thanks in advance. |

might try putting those commands in /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh or try removing the ivtv line from /etc/modules Craig |

I got frustrated (messed something else up) and went for a reinstall. The problem did not surface on the reinstall. Thanks for the tip. If it comes back, I'll know what to do. -Chance |

I have this same issue with a PVR-500 - there is several posts (search) about this topic and a few hack. (i think it was a bug someone documented) the one thing i dont get is why when you reinstall it will work. if i reinstall its a 50/50 chance that it will fail or work. little perplexed there. MoBoard is P4B |

I got the same trouble with R5B7 and a HP400 VL Small Factor. I don't understand anything to this but the fact is it is a bug. |

This looks very similar to another issue that the IVTV drivers had a while back which supposedly got fixed. Any tuner that shows up as "type 4" is a problem because at one point "4" was the code for "no tuner found". If you're feeling ambitious you can dig through the Trac logs for the IVTV driver to see what the resolution on that was. |
