Just replaced my aged 440MX board with a GF 6200 for my frontend machine. I installed the hardware and booted. Normally, I can see the memcheck, boot process on the TV, but something's up with this card because I can't and am wondering if the TV out is defective.

When I do get into fluxbox, the nvidia util doesn't show that there's a TV out available on the card, just CRT0. Also, there's a "nVidia TVOUT" that doesn't do anything either. It does work on the monitor.

The fact that the card isn't working before KM loads tells me something is wrong. Is there anything util within KM that I don't know about to test the tvout? A video driver update shouldn't be needed, should it?

Any advice is appreciated.

Update:
I tested the card in a Win32 box and the TV out works just fine so I can rule out the hardware problem... must be a need to update the driver?

I can't tell from your post if you have the monitor and the TV hooked up at the same time. If so, shutting down the system, unhooking the monitor and powering back up should do the trick.

Sorry I should have made that clear. If I switch off the machine from the PS, unhook the monitor, and simply have the S-video out hooked into the TV, I get no picture.

I think I just figured it out: my old 440MX had a simple RCA out. This new board only has S-video. My old TV doesn't have an S-Video in; I was using a Svideo --> RCA converter and going into an old VCR which I think isn't tolerated by the card. If I go S-Video out from the card to another TV that does have an S-Video in, it works just fine.

I started a new post here asking about way to trick the S-Video out and/or use an alternative S-Video->RCA jack. Please follow-up with me there :)
