So I'm setting up my new HD Myth box, and one of my two A180 tuner cards isn't working... I've never used them before, bought them new (OEM packaging). I'm running Ubuntu 7.10, I used the get_dvb_firmware script to grab the latest firmware, have the saa7134-dvb module load at boot, and one of the cards shows up and works fine, as evidenced by dmesg and the fact that it also works in MythTV. Do I have to do anything special to get the second one working?

Going through the output in dmesg, I came across this early in boot:

[ 32.894438] PCI: Probing PCI hardware (bus 00)
[ 32.895834] PCI: device 0000:05:00.0 has unknown header type 7f, ignoring.

Is that related to my problem perhaps?

Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be, or what I should try next?

I don't know if anyone can provide assistance here Most people here are running Knoppmyth.

Since you reference you are using Ubuntu and MythTV you may have better luck with both of your questions on one of those forums.

Regards

Sure, and I will, but I was thinking that Knoppmyth folks must have experience with the saa7134-dvb module and two cards, right? And I have a feeling I may have a bad card, which wouldn't have anything to do with MythTV or Ubuntu or Knoppmyth anyway, and I'm hoping to find people who might have experienced bad tuner cards before and who could help me figure this out.

Agreed, You might try swapping the slots they plug into or even going to one card only and see if you can determine that way if either one is bad.

(Incidentally, I've posted over at mythtvtalk.com and the Ubuntu forums, and nobody has responded to me at either location, so thanks very much for responding here!)

I pulled one card, and swapped the other one into it's slot, and dmesg output changed to this:

[ 44.114380] saa7133[0]: found at 0000:05:01.0, rev: 255, irq: 255, latency: 255, mmio: 0x0

[ 44.114389] saa7133[0]: can't get MMIO memory @ 0x0

[ 44.217379] saa7134 ALSA driver for DMA sound loaded
[ 44.217382] saa7134 ALSA: no saa7134 cards found

So I pulled that card, put the other one into the same slot, and got this:

So looks like I've got a bad card.
