hey folks

I want to use a PII 400 MhZ | ATI RAGE IIC as a playback client for mythTV. My mythbackend only serves mpeg2 packages [dvb]. In which cases could I improve the playback speed ? [standart Knopmyth config is very slow ?!].

cya :!:

That processor video combination is just not going to work. you might get away with that processor if you had an nvidia card since you have mpeg2 and it has xvmc support.

well you should be able to playback video like divx/mpeg 4 with it, but the thing is livetv on mythtv is playback and record at the same time. plus the fact that ati under windows if I'm not mistaken has at least hardware motion compensation, where it does not under linux, because ATI hasn't written any decent drivers or given the open source projects any documentation. The reason I said nvidia might do it is because they have XvMC (X(the windowing system for linux) video motion compensation) sound familiar? lol

it seems to work using a r128 [found in the cellar=] with the extended DRI driver for rage chipsets.

does anybody know, which libraries are used to merge the osd onto livetv? it seems this is software based =%
