I have had the same problem, from what I can tell. I have a Winfast 2000XP card and I've tried on a Athlon T-Bird 1.4 ghz and also an Athlon 2800. Both have 512 Mg RAM.

To be more specific on the symptoms, mine will show the program guide but the video will not work correctly - it is very distorted and in the upper left corner instead of the upper right. Sometimes it will crash before letting me select a different channel, but the problem I can most often reproduce is that it crashes when I either exit hte program guide or select a show to watch.

I also have been experiencing horrible performance out of both recorded and live video. On those speed processors, I am not expecting it to be so bad. In fact, it is about the same quality that I was seeing when I had it running on a dual 450 mhz machine (running only one processor).

I did have an older version of KnoppMyth running on my 1.4 ghz machine with no real complaints until I tried upgrading software and hardware - I've just been messing around with different hardware lately.

Did anyone ever come up with a solution for this, because my box (R4V4.1) likes to crash on me when I open up the program guide. I'm using pretty standard hardware (PVR-350, Celeron 1.7, 512 RAM) and I'd love to get my box 100% stable.

I'm so close...

You may want to look into different versions of the ivtv drivers... Or search the ivtv mailing lists for reports of the same issue...

And remember, when you're asking about an issue like this, details matter. What is you mobo? What model/revision of the PVR350? What version of the Hauppauge firmware are you using? What version of the ivtv drivers? Even if people can't answer your question directly they may be able to point out broader patterns.
