I read the specs for systems, and am wondering if anyone out there has a similar setup to this:

Athlon XP 1900+ (1.6 GHz 133x12.0)
ASUS A7N8X-VM
512 meg PC2100 (DDR266)
PVR-250
120 gig ATA/100 drive
other hardware not relevant to this :)

Please post your comments. I'd be interested to know if you can capture to 720x480 high quality and playback simultaneously.

that should not be a problem the pvr250 will handle the encoding so the record part should not take more than 3% of your cpu. I don't know what you are using for output, but if it's nvidia you can use the xvmc support and that will not take as much cpu either.

For reference I have a similar setup nforce2 mb athlonxp 1700+ 512MB 200G hd pvr250, and v4l software card. I can record two shows and watch one.

As far as the high quality goes it makes no difference in the encode process because that is handled in hardware it may use a slight bit more cpu for the decode but you will be fine.
