 Post subject: AC3 and DVB

Has anyone got AC3 to work with their DVB card?

I am not sure where the detection happens but when i put a AC3 pid into the tuner i get it showing up as Layer 1 audio same as non AC3 audio. So i get garbled sounds and jerky video.

For mplayer the AC3 output works fine. So my understanding is that the Layer audio is being detected wrong. So what detects it? ALSA or myth or something else.

I am running a pretty stock knoppmyth with few changes (mplayer update and not much else) with a AMD XP200+ and a yamaha 744 based sound card. The DVB card is a Twinhan.

If anyone could let me know what layer they get with DVB AC3 sound and what version of ALSA they are running that would be great.

Possibly I have to recompile mythtv to use ALSA instead, I recompiled it to work with DVB but nor ALSA yet.

Thanks

I just successfully compiled and installed the latest cvs, and AC3 spdif output seems to be working fine. Strange, because it was way too easy than I thought! Just enabled it in settings and it is working now!! Funny thing is that it automatically chooses the AC3 PID channel!??

Okay, since 0.17 will be released soon, I guess if you want AC3, then it'll be worth trying ..
