Please help. Here is the problem. My network interface does not work under Knoppmyth (using R5A12). I have tried both DHCP and setting the network settings manually. I have tried two different network adapters. What is particularly odd is that it (network adapter) works flawlessly in knoppix, but not with knoppmyth.

According to lspci, the current adapter is a Lite-On Communications Inc LNE100TX (rev 2). The card itself is sold as Net Gear.

I am running:
--dual PIII 1Ghz D6VAA
--1 PVR 250
--1 PVR 350
--Netgear ethernet adapters
--ATI Rage 128 All-in-Wonder PCI video card (used only as a video adapter, not as a TV tuner)
--Promise Ultra 100 tx2 ATA/100 Controller
--TDK CDRW
--Asus DVD-ROM

The Promise controller is new, but all the other hardware was running fine under Fedora Core 1.

I decided to give Knoppmyth a try because another Fedora Core workstation installation completely puked after an upgrade. I had good experiences with Debian in the past and only switched to FC because of the availability of recipes on the Internet.

I am not new to linux by any means, but do not profess to be an expert.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and any help you may offer.

BTW, I have already looked at the post below which did not help:

well you might have problems (most likely will) with the promise controler. knoppmyth at this point and time Just Really expects to install to hda. As for the NIC I believe all of the network modules from the mainline kernel are in the knoppmyth kernel plus some. if you knew what kernel module it used it would be easier to help you get it working. you might want to boot with knoppix since it doesn't touch the harddrive and just see what module it's using. And the last thing I can think of is a bad burn of the CD. I know just the other day I tried a fresh install, and had all kinds of problems big one being that network didn't work. turned out that there were no modules. they didn't get installed for some reason, so I burned a new copy (that copy had been sitting out for a while) and it installed and picked up the network just fine.

Well, I booted back into knoppix and there were two drivers, tulip and crc32, that were being used by both knoppmyth and knoppix. natsemi was being used on knoppmyth as well. I had tried two different ethernet cards to see if I would get around the problem I'm writing about. The natsemi driver was used by the previously installed card. I used modconf to remove it. Just to be sure, I used rmmod to make sure that it was gone. I then tried netcardconfig with the same results as before. I then did rmmod for both tulip and crc32 followed by modprobe and still no joy.
