Alright I've searched the forum and read draggons post and alarson's post. I ran the script and i'm getting the horizontal purple and green lines. I can't press CTRL+ALT+F1-F5 it does nothing.

On my monitor i see a bunch of stuff about ivtv screen coods and original global alpha but on my tv i see the lines. I REALLY don't want to start over with all this stuff and was hoping to get it working soon. Is there a way to fix things after the script has installed? I'm basically a newb so easy instructions are good:)

After i did arson's steps i get something saying can't connect to X server. Gives me an error about /etc/X11 X86config-4 file and the /fb# i can't seem to find the right one. Anyway looking for any advice possible. I've searched this forum front and back before i started my own thread so if anyone has advice spit it here.

Thanks in advance!!!

My specs:
Celeron 1.7
768MB RAM
PVR-350(model 990)
R5A12

PVR350 support is improving, but if this is your first try at mythtv, I would suggest you buy or borrow a tier 1 nvidia card for monitor/TV out. You can still use the PVR350 as a tuner. Once things are running, then you might want to try and migrate to the PVR350 TV-out.

If you want to continue with the 350, I did see some purple line posts. You might want to do a search for them.

Alright just for kicks I tried the script again and got the same error - TV has the green/purple horizontal lines. I tried switching video cards and got the same thing. I have everything working on my monitor if I could just get my 350 to put out some video I would be in heaven. If anyone has any suggestions i'd be VERY happy.

Ok, from my recolection and how I think it works and how mine boots the horizontal lines (basically a bunch of junk) is cause when the driver loads for the 350. So, it's initialized it's just not doinging anything and this is "normal" to some extent but it should go away when the card start putting something on the output of the 350. This is on either the composite or the s-video port. Side note, I can use either port for output without changing any configuration.

Now, there are some frame buffers (/dev/fbx). These need to be deleted and remade after you change the driver (maybe this could be wrong). I know you need to remake them after you change all the ivtv stuff and install a new driver anyway. :)

Let's do this:
First, make sure you are running the script as root and report back if you are (i.e. run it as root again)
Second, write down the exact error you get while running the script.

Use either a ssh session or a terminal screen to run the script again.

To get to a terminal screen you should use Ctr-Alt-F2 and to get back, use Alt-F7. I know you said that wasn't doing anything, but it should display a text prompt on the monitor connected to the computer.

hey Lane

Thanks for the advice...I reran the script from root and I still get the horizontal lines on the TV. It will not let me SSH it to it now-saying connection refused. on the VGA port i get the text about the IVTV file...The last section i can see on my monitor starts off like this..

====END INIT IVTV=====
Frembuffer module laoded(attached to ivtv card id 0)
itvt-osd: Framebuffer is at decoder relative address 0x00510000 and has 1704960 bytes
itvt-osd:screen coords:[0 0]-> [720 480]
etc...

I've tried ALL the cominations of F keys and none of them ended up working. I think its in a frozen state. The only way to fix this is to stop it from booting up automatically and fixing up my XF86Config-4 File.

I never get an error when running the script-only after i reboot the machine. Anyway if anyone has any suggestions i'd REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

What version are you trying to run? R5A12 or R4V5?

Either way, I would start over. Something went really bad. Maybe try running htings manually and not using the script.
