When I watch TV the audio whilst softer than a CD does not go away once I quit watching TV. Even to the point when I start playing a music CD the TV audio still works.

I have a lead from the audio out on my PixelView Play TV Pro (Card=37 Radio=0 AudioMux=1 Tuner=5) going to the audio in on my Audigy soundcard.

I have done some searches but come up bear, any ideas where to go from here.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Perhaps a search of the MythTV docs?

you couldn't have searched very hard on this one if you came up empty it's been covered thousands of times every since the inception of mythtv.

alsamixer make linein captur and mute it.

Xsecrets, I had searched hi and low for a resolution to this problem but nothing has come up. Using your information I had done another search and come up with more question than answers.

I appreciate that searching first is important as this is what I strive to do, but unfortunately in this situation I am stuck.

Since posting the original message I have had my HDD die and thus I have had to reinstall KnoppMyth R5A12 and now I get no sound out of the Line In, Music CDs work fine and I get audio out of the TV card.

So, from what you say I have to change the capture device in alsamixer and looking up alsamixer on the net I need to use the [SPACEBAR] to select the Line In as the capture device. I am currently at work so I am unable to test it immediately.

Whilst I am a n00b to KnoppMyth I am a techie by trade so I do try things first before posting, you will have to excuse my ignorance in this realm.

Thanks though for steering me in the right direction.

I have finally gotten to the point where my hair is slowly turning grey from frustration.

With the Audigy card you can not selet the capture ports, they are set automagically, so I can get audio through the sound card when I up the volume on the Line and Audigy Mixer, albiet out of sync.

When I mute Line I don't get audio, when I got to Watch TV the audio comes on, but then I have an echo, where the real time sound is quite loud and the synced sound is very soft.

When I use motv/xawtv just in X it works fine, i.e. when it starts audio comes on and when it exits, audio goes off. I have tried to have xawtv on and the audio muted and then run aplay /dev/dsp0 in a xterm, I get underrun messages, but no audio.

I have read so many docs and articles on this my head hurts as it seems that I am getting no where.

Just to let you know the hardware, if I have not already stated, I have a Prolink Pixelview PlayTV Pro (BT878) and SB Audigy and I am using a pass thru cable coming from the audio out on TV card to Line on Audigy.

/etc/modules
Code:
bttv card=37 audiomux=0 radio=1 tuner=5

As a side note, when I am watching the computer boot I get a message very late that the bt878:blacklisted, I don't know if this is related.
